How CloudRx provided ‘seamless scalability’ for trailblazing women’s clinic.

Dr Louise Newson, owner of Newson Health, a menopause and wellbeing centre, says CloudRx’s online digital prescribing service has enabled them to grow by approximately 50% during extraordinary times.

Newson Health, based in Stratford Upon Avon, provides unbiased, evidence-based advice for perimenopause and menopause in women.

The private clinic, which opened up online consultations in response to the pandemic, says the partnership with CloudRx not only allowed it to provide an upgraded prescription service to patients, but also accelerated the firm’s digital transformation, allowing for unprecedented expansion as the number of prescriptions issued increased rapidly.

Smooth running

Before lockdown, all consultations took place face to face at Newson Health and prescriptions were fulfilled on the premises.

Moving online enabled the clinic to consult with patients who could not travel there during lockdown and enabled the expansion of the clinical team who work remotely.

Dr Newson said: “We found that moving online has opened up a whole new geographic of patients who previously wouldn’t have had access to our services. Add to this, a number of patients who have more time on their hands to explore their options, and we have found ourselves in extremely high demand.

“While we were able to appoint more GPs and clinicians to carry out online appointments, logistically we were struggling to keep up with the admin side of the prescriptions, not to mention storage for medication to cope with this huge increase in prescriptions.

“Our admin staff were responsible for dispensing and packaging all the medication which was a huge undertaking. The business was growing but we were restricted because we didn’t have the manpower or storage to get the prescriptions out. Working with CloudRx became the obvious step.”

Dr Newson added: “CloudRx immediately took away the strain. Since our partnership we have grown by approximately 50% in size. We could not have done that without their support. It has allowed for seamless scalability – I don’t think we will notice any constraints if we increase in size again; we are confident that CloudRx can meet demand.”

Better service

CloudRx has provided the electronic prescription service to Newson Health since August 2020 when the demand for prescriptions grew massively.

The move to online prescriptions has also resulted in a better patient journey.

Dr Newson said: “The prescriptions are securely and conveniently created on the CloudRx digital prescribing platform and then medicines are sent out and often arrive at the patient’s door 24 hours later. Not only does this make life easier for patients who don’t have to leave the house, they can also track their delivery and know when to expect it.

“It also removes the possibility of the patient’s local pharmacy failing to have the medication. The testosterone we prescribe, for example, is not licensed on the NHS so is not carried by all chemists. With CloudRx there is no concern that it won’t be in stock.”

She added: “Since using CloudRx we’ve seen a massive reduction in patients ringing to find out where their prescriptions are – we just don’t have to worry about it anymore. And we know that CloudRx are at the end of the phone to deal with any queries directly with the patients – we’ve had glowing reviews from our patients.
